Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026 · PremiumAV Private Limited

This policy explains what personal data MayaBooks collects, why, and the rights you have over it — written to be read, not just scrolled past. It is designed with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) in mind.

1. What we collect

  • Account data — your name, email address and phone number, collected with your consent when you register or join the waitlist.
  • Business/accounting data — the companies, parties, invoices, vouchers and documents you enter or upload. This may include personal data of your own customers and suppliers; for that data you are the data fiduciary and we process it on your instructions.
  • Support data — problem reports, safe diagnostics, screenshots or files you choose to attach, and a correlation ID so our support team can investigate your request.
  • Purchase and entitlement data — plan, subscription status, Store provider, transaction reference and renewal/cancellation state where you buy or restore MayaBooks through our website, Microsoft Store, Google Play or another supported app store.
  • Technical and analytics data — IP address, browser/app type, device/platform, access logs, app diagnostics and privacy-safe usage events, used for security, reliability, troubleshooting and product improvement.

2. What we use it for

  • Operating the Service: authentication, storing your books, syncing app clients, printing invoices, exports, imports and backups you configure.
  • Communicating with you about your account, trial, subscription, Store purchases and support requests.
  • Security: abuse prevention, audit trails, fraud detection.
  • Support: diagnosing reported problems using safe context such as app version, platform, screen/route, error code and correlation ID.
  • Product improvement: understanding aggregate usage and reliability without sending invoice contents, bank entries, ledger balances or Tally/Zoho source files to advertising networks.
  • Legal obligations: tax and company-law record-keeping requirements.

We do not sell your data, and MayaBooks does not display third-party advertising. We do not use your accounting data for advertising.

3. Consent

We ask for your consent when you sign up, and you may withdraw it at any time by closing your account (subject to the retention rules below). Marketing emails, if any, always carry an unsubscribe option.

4. Retention — and where it overrides erasure

You can ask us to delete your personal data. For most data we will do so promptly. However, financial and transactional records are subject to statutory retention periods in India — GST law requires books and records to be kept for at least 72 months, and company law for 8 years. Where a deletion request conflicts with such a legal obligation, the statutory retention requirement prevails: the records are retained for the mandated period (with access restricted) and deleted after it expires. The DPDP Act itself recognises processing required for compliance with law.

5. Security

  • Passwords are stored only as strong one-way hashes — we cannot see them.
  • Access to your books is role-based; every change is recorded in an append-only audit trail.
  • Sensitive stored credentials (e.g. backup destinations) are encrypted at rest.
  • Uploaded documents are served only through authenticated, access-checked downloads.

6. Where your data lives

Your data is stored on our servers and in the backups you configure (which may include your own Google Drive or SFTP destination — those copies are under your control and your chosen provider's terms).

7. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to access a summary of your personal data, correct it, ask for erasure (subject to Section 4 above), nominate a person to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance. Write to maya@maya123.com — we respond to grievances within a reasonable time, and you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unsatisfied.

8. Cookies

MayaBooks uses a session cookie needed for login to work and may use privacy-safe analytics to understand site/app reliability and usage. No third-party advertising cookies are set on this site, and we do not request an advertising ID for monetisation.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will notify you by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.
